ALGA considers the use of information and communication technology (ICT) by local government as vitally important, as ICT is an enabler of innovation and productivity improvements and so plays an important role in the sustainability of local government. As such, ALGA is heavily involved in the development of Information and Communication Technology policy. ALGA represents local government on numerous cross-jurisdictional working groups and committees. In addition, it has developed strategies for improving local government's ICT capacity and access to infrastructure.
